the sugar thing is supposed to exfoliate so i dont think it’d be a problem! But what problems does biting cause? Because I do that too D:

After doing some research, I’ve found that basically, you’re not supposed to have skin “peeling” off your lips. It’s supposed to only happen once in a blue moon, not all day like most lip biters have.

The problem is, is biting causes enough trauma to the overly sensitive skin there, and your body treats it like it would any sort of trauma. It tries healing it quickly, and forces the dead skin off as fast as possible. This is why a lot of lip-biters often turn into lip-peelers. But you’re not supposed to peel the skin off, because the skin underneath is still healing!

Good news is, I’ve seen a lot of people on the net saying if you can stop biting/picking/peeling for just two or three days, you’ll start noticing a HUGE change. Your lips should have healed by then and should be smooth, not flaking.

TL;DR: biting and peeling is causing trauma to your skin, which will cause chronic dry lips, which will lead to frequent cracking with stinging pain and often, bleeding. And your lips are very prone to infection when you get an open wound!

I also read somewhere that the way you move your jaw to bite them can cause TMJ or worsen existing TMJ. But I dunno how reputable that info is. Basically, it’s just bad for you, it can hurt like fuck and cause complications, and having your lips look constantly chapped isn’t attractive.
